An ottoman bed is a type of storage bed that lifts from the base to reveal storage space beneath the mattress. Ottoman beds are great for keeping your bedroom clutter-free and maximising the under-bed space, with the entire area free for storage use. Whether you’re short on space or love an organised room, ottoman beds are a great option for all room sizes.
How does an ottoman bed work?
An ottoman bed uses gas-lift pistons to raise the mattress and base, revealing storage the full size of the bed. Side lift beds open from the left or right and suit rooms that are tight at the foot of the bed. End lift beds open from the bottom and need clear space at the foot. Both close by lowering the mattress back down.
What are the downsides of ottoman beds?
Ottoman beds are heavier to assemble and usually need two people. A heavier mattress takes more effort to lift, so pick a frame with strong pistons if you want a deep mattress. Side lift beds need clearance beside the bed, and end lift beds need space at the foot. They cost a little more than a simple frame because of the mechanism. For most people, the extra storage is worth the trade-off.

Ottoman bed colours
Choosing the right ottoman bed colour can enhance your bedroom’s mood and décor. Pick neutrals like grey, white, cream, or beige to create a calm look, which is great for minimalist rooms. Offer a bold, contrasting tone with dark shades like black or brown.
Warm colours such as gold, orange, red, or yellow can infuse your room with energy. Meanwhile, cool tones like blue and green can add a more laid-back and serene atmosphere. Finally, add a touch of playfulness or romantic tone to your room with purple or pink ottoman beds.
Ottoman bed materials
All of our ottoman beds are made from high-quality and durable materials such as:
Velvet Ottoman Beds - Create a rich bedroom with a velvet bed , a luxuriously soft fabric.
Velour Ottoman Beds – Similar to velvet but with a slight sheen.
Leather Ottoman Beds – Sleek and durable, leather beds add a touch of high-end, modern style.
Wooden Ottoman Beds – Choose from wooden beds made with oak, rubberwood, or particle board for a strong ottoman bed with natural grain finishes.
What mattress can you use on an ottoman bed?

How to assemble an ottoman bed
Ottoman beds require two people to assemble and come with easy-to-follow instructions. Simply lay out and identify all parts. Start by assembling the frame and attaching the lifting mechanism. Then install the slats or baseboard inside the frame. Remember to check that the lift mechanism works before placing the mattress.
