Selecting a Jay-Be Folding Bed or Mattress
Folding mechanisms for different spaces
Jay-Be frames come in compact, grand and hideaway styles that fold away neatly when not required. Compact versions suit smaller rooms or occasional use, while grand models provide wider sleeping surfaces. Consider how often the bed will be opened and the available storage space before choosing.
Mattress types and sleeper needs
Options range from e-Fibre and pocket-sprung to hybrid constructions. Allergy-sensitive users often prefer anti-microbial or foam-free fillings, while children’s mattresses prioritise supportive yet gentle surfaces. Match firmness to the user’s weight and preferred sleep position for better rest.
Sustainability and everyday care
Many Jay-Be products use recycled materials and avoid unnecessary foam. Regular rotation, use of protectors and proper storage when folded help maintain performance. Checking care labels ensures the frame and mattress stay in good condition over years of use.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does this mattress weigh?
Weight varies by size and filling. Pocket-sprung and hybrid models are generally heavier than fibre-filled versions. Always check the product specifications for the exact figure before moving or storing.
Is this suitable for a 3 year old child and does it fit a single base bed for adults?
Toddler mattresses are sized for small beds and offer lower profiles. Adult single frames usually accept standard single mattresses, but confirm dimensions match the chosen model to ensure a proper fit.
Does the mattress have a fire safety label?
All mattresses sold in the UK must meet current fire safety regulations. Look for the label on the product or packaging to confirm compliance before purchase.
What is the height from floor to top of mattress when the bed is open?
Open height depends on the frame design and mattress thickness. Measure both components together if headroom or clearance is important in the room layout.
